Lyon began their European campaign with a success at Anderlecht (2-1). Crystal Palace, despite a sluggish start to the season, recovered with a victory against Nottingham Forest and remain experienced on the European stage. Lyon must be wary as they are deprived of their injured striker Loïs Openda.

Olympique de Marseille (OM), which ended a series of five consecutive defeats by winning against Troyes (2-0) in Ligue 1, will host Olympiakos on Thursday. After two defeats against Besiktas and Olympiakos, Bruno Genesio's men are looking to get back on track.

Stade Rennais will face OFI Crete for their first participation in the Europa League in over a quarter of a century. Franck Haise's players were held to a draw by Sturm Graz in their first European match, and must be more efficient offensively.
