The PSG coach does not consider a new signing necessary to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but he is leaving the door open. According to But! Football Club, Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference on Saturday, two days before hosting Olympique Lyonnais. When asked about bringing in a forward to compensate for the Georgian international's absence, he replied: "No, not specifically. No injury means we have to sign new players. At the start of the season, I said we could handle anything even if there are major injuries. But we remain open to opportunities. It is a possibility we have."
An injury that sidelines the winger for months
According to But! Football Club, Kvaratskhelia is suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is expected to be out for several months. The Parisian coach said he is thinking first of the player and what he will go through. He added that the latter would remain very important to the team.
Five absentees against Lyon
The media outlet also cites four other injured players who are out for this match: Alessandro Longoni, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, and Ousmane Dembélé. Second in the standings, PSG could reclaim the top spot in the league with a win.
A match postponed to Monday
The eighth matchday fixture of Ligue 1 was scheduled to be played on Sunday, October 25 at 8:45 p.m. at the Parc des Princes. It will take place on Monday, October 26 at 8:30 p.m., according to the Ligue de Football Professionnel. The postponement follows an order from the Police Prefecture prohibiting the match from being held that evening. The LFP decided this in agreement with Ligue 1+, which will broadcast the match live.
Foot Mercato details the security context. Following the violence, looting, and clashes during the previous weekend's demonstrations, authorities were expecting further mobilization on Saturday, October 24. The media outlet notes that the NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New Orleans Saints is scheduled to be held on Sunday at the Stade de France. Other matches have been rescheduled: Toulouse-Troyes, in Ligue 1, will be played on Sunday at 5:15 p.m. instead of Saturday. In Ligue 2, Montpellier-Red Star is postponed from Saturday at 2:00 p.m. to Monday at 8:45 p.m.
The Ballon d'Or in the background
According to RMC Sport, this Monday night clash will take place at the same time as the Ballon d'Or ceremony. This event does not interest Luis Enrique at all. Foot Mercato specifies that this ceremony is taking place the same evening in London and involves several Parisian players.
