The Carolina Gigantes won their first game of the 2026-2027 season against the Indios de Mayagüez. Japanese pitcher Kaito Uchino pitched six innings, allowing two runs and striking out two before being replaced by Alexander Castro, who earned his first save of the season.

Early in the game, Trent Youngblood and Lisbel Díaz scored the first runs for Carolina. In the fourth inning, Isan Diaz drew a walk followed by a base hit from Emmanuel Rivera, which ended the perfect game Uchino had been pitching.

In the seventh inning, Edwin Rios of the Indios de Mayagüez scored two runs with a home run. However, Sean Barnett and Jorge López gave up three runs to the Gigantes in the eighth inning, sealing a 5-2 victory for Carolina.

San Juan Senators

The Senadores de San Juan won their first game against the Criollos de Caguas with a score of 4-1. The game took place at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan after being postponed due to bad weather on Wednesday.

The Senadores scored three runs in the sixth inning thanks to a base hit by Antonio Jimenez, a wild pitch, and two walks. Ramón Rodríguez added an extra run for San Juan in the eighth inning.

Ponce Leones

The Leones de Ponce won their game against the Cangrejeros de Santurce with a 5-0 shutout at Francisco “Paquito” Montaner Stadium in Ponce. Ryan Murphy, Keito Matsuura, and other Leones pitchers limited the Cangrejeros' offense to two hits.

Chris Arroyo scored the first run for the Leones in the second inning, followed by Will Simoneit, who added another run. Ezequiel Pagán and Michael Martinez allowed the Leones to take a comfortable lead before Andrew Marrero secured the save.
