The Milwaukee Brewers have won the first two games of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. They won 3-2 on Friday and then 5-4 on Saturday after being down by four runs.

A Tight First Game in Milwaukee

At American Family Field, the Brewers took an early lead in the first inning. A single by Jackson Chourio, a triple by Christian Yelich, and a hit by William Contreras gave them two runs. Nick Martínez, the starting pitcher for the Rays, then held the Brewers scoreless for four innings.

Tampa Bay narrowed the gap in the fourth inning. Jonathan Aranda walked, and Junior Caminero sent him to third with a double. Liam Hicks scored Aranda on a ground ball to first base. Jacob Misiorowski pitched five innings (four hits, one run, three strikeouts, one walk) before handing the ball over to Abner Uribe and then Aaron Ashby. The last four batters for the Rays managed only one hit in seventeen at-bats.

In the seventh inning, Cooper Pratt scored on a single by Chourio. In the ninth, Trevor Megill allowed singles to Aranda and Chandler Simpson. After a stolen base and a walk to Caminero, pinch runner Jorge Mateo scored. Megill then struck out Johnny de Lucca for the save. Misiorowski was credited with the win, Martínez with the loss.

The Second Game, a Comeback Victory

According to El Nuevo Diario, the Rays led 4-0 in the first inning against Logan Henderson after a throwing error by Pratt. Hicks also hit a two-run home run. Sal Frelick tied the game with a home run in the sixth inning. Pratt then scored the winning run with a single in the seventh.

Ashby recorded the last five outs of the game and the save. He struck out Yandy Díaz and left the tying run at third base. The left-hander has not allowed any runs in eight postseason appearances, according to the newspaper.

Next Up at Tropicana Field

The series continues at Tropicana Field with a third game scheduled for Monday in St. Petersburg. Robert Gasser is set to pitch for the Brewers and Freddy Peralta for the Rays, reports El Nuevo Diario. The newspaper also cites MLB.com: in a best-of-seven series, teams leading 2-0 have won 80 out of 96 times, or 83%.
