Prime Minister Fils-Aimé calls for an end to the transition through elections
Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé stated on Friday during his speech before the United Nations General Assembly that "the transition will end with a ballot." He also pledged to strengthen the country's security, notably by announcing the P4000 program aimed at training 4,000 police officers.

Fils-Aimé praised António Guterres's constant commitment to peace and thanked the international partners who are supporting Haiti. He emphasized that the country is not asking to be saved but wants strong allies while it takes its destiny into its own hands.
The Prime Minister set three priorities for his government: security, stability, and economic recovery. Regarding security, he detailed several ongoing projects, notably for the army with a program planning for the training of 15,000 soldiers over the coming years.
He also insisted on the need for effective border control and announced the strengthening of the judicial system to combat sexual violence. Finally, Fils-Aimé assured that resources are being mobilized to organize elections that will bring the transition to an end.
Security
Fils-Aimé presented several initiatives aimed at strengthening Haiti's security:
- The training of 4,000 police officers through the P4000 program;
- The recruitment and equipping of military forces for a planned total of 15,000 soldiers over three years;
- The improvement of border control.
Economy
The Prime Minister welcomed the extension of the HELP/HOPE Act and called for a shift from emergency aid to sustainable economic partnership to ensure the country's future prosperity.
