Mayor Massillon Jean wants to increase the presence of armed forces in Kenscoff
The mayor of Kenscoff, Mr. Massillon Jean, expressed his wish that the Haitian Armed Forces (FADH) play a more active role in maintaining order and consolidating territories recovered following recent police operations against gangs. These actions, carried out over two weeks, allowed for the dismantling of several criminal bands and ensured control of strategic neighborhoods such as Viard 1 and 2, Godet, and Bois d'avril.

According to Métropole Haiti, Mr. Jean emphasized the importance of strengthening police presence in the recovered areas to prevent a potential return of the gangs. He also called for government assistance to rehabilitate damaged infrastructure and support displaced farmers since over 20 months ago.
The mayor believes that securing safety must go hand in hand with humanitarian aid, particularly to ensure the return of some 35,000 Kenscoff residents who left their homes due to gang chaos. He also hopes for an extension of the mandate of the Gang Repression Force (FRG) by the United Nations to support these efforts.
Displaced and Rehabilitation
Several thousand residents remain displaced in precarious conditions, unable to resume normal life due to a lack of infrastructure. The mayor is requesting rapid intervention to improve damaged access roads and allow farmers to return to their fields.
