The GSF, initially established for a one-year period via Resolution 2793 on September 30, 2025, currently consists of 1,083 members. There is now a call for the deployment of the remaining personnel to reach a total of 5,500.
According to Haiti Liberté, Michael Waltz, the United States representative to the Security Council, stated that the GSF "is reopening roads and securing neighborhoods. It is regaining control of areas off-limits to the Haitian National Police and dismantling the extortion rackets that fuel the gangs' criminal activities."
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Raina Forbin and Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé also supported this extension. They believe the force is necessary to combat the growing insecurity in the country.
