The Haitian Bureau of Standards brought together government delegates, business representatives and academics at the Hôtel Montana in Pétion-Ville, according to Vant Bèf Info. The meeting was held on Friday, October 30, 2026, to mark World Standards Day. The aim was to highlight the quality criteria that govern goods and services on the market.
Standards in the Service of the Economy
Discussions at the gathering stressed how useful standards are for boosting local manufacturing and improving the market performance of commercial companies. For this year's edition, the organizers chose the slogan: "Standardization, a real lever for economic development in Haiti."
According to the agency's officials, putting these technical requirements into practice encourages creativity while meeting consumers' expectations.
The Institutional Framework and State Missions
This technical department operates under the direct oversight of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The institution oversees the drafting of technical benchmarks, their dissemination and their enforcement across Haitian territory. These efforts are part of the work carried out under Minister James Monazard, who is seeking to support rigorous local production and the competitiveness of business enterprises.
