José Deschamps, president of Fedofutbol, stated that these incidents highlight the importance of improving organization and security for future matches. Welding and painting work necessary for repairs were carried out on October 5 in Santo Domingo.
According to Diario Libre, only one person was in charge of checking tickets at the entrances during the match, which led to a large influx of spectators. This situation caused the gates to be knocked over and created crowd movements.
Fedofutbol recommends installing security barriers in front of the doors to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
The day after the match, the Dominican Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, announced that Haiti is no longer authorized to play its matches in the Dominican Republic. This decision was supported by Luis Abinader.
RFI Sports reports that Cristiano Ronaldo has been temporarily suspended after leaving the Portuguese national team gathering following a conflict with his coach, according to the Portuguese Football Federation.
