The National Directorate for Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) is distancing itself from the incidents that occurred on Wednesday, November 4, in front of its Delmas 34 branch and is announcing administrative measures against the employees involved. It is also asking the police to take action against those responsible for disturbances on the public highway.
Who is speaking and what the note says
The Technical Operation Center for the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area (CTE-RMPP) and the Regional Office for Water Supply and Sanitation of the West (OREPA-Ouest), two decentralized structures of DINEPA, have published a press release. In it, they condemn the disturbances and state that DINEPA dissociates itself from these actions, which they deem damaging to the institution's image.
The two directorates maintain that certain employees allowed themselves to be manipulated by third parties to disrupt public order. The announced measures will be taken in accordance with the administrative procedures in force.
The disagreement over salaries
The two structures reject the accusations of salary arrears. They state that all staff have been paid up to October 15, 2026, and describe the allegations of a salary debt to employees as false.
What we do not know
According to Vant Bèf Info, employees had demonstrated their demands by burning tires in front of the Delmas 34 premises. According to Rezo Nòdwès, the note specifies neither the circumstances that led to the disturbances nor the potential demands of the employees concerned.
The directorate also did not detail the nature of the sanctions being considered nor the exact sequence of the incidents.
