The CEH calls for securing Haiti before the next elections

Citizens' safety is crucial for the electoral process. The CEH states that "citizens' safety precedes voting operations." It warns against elections held in an unstable context, which could trigger new crises rather than improve stability.

The Episcopal Conference calls on state authorities, political forces, and civil society to commit to protecting the population and addressing humanitarian emergencies. It also encourages dialogue among Haitian actors to overcome disputes and promote reconciliation.

The CEH highlights that security instability, particularly due to the recruitment of armed groups and an increase in kidnappings, poses a major problem. It acknowledges, however, the efforts of some public forces on the ground.

The message is signed by several bishops, including Bishop Max Leroy Mésidor, Metropolitan Archbishop of Port-au-Prince and president of the CEH, as well as Chibly Cardinal Langlois, Bishop of Les Cayes and advisor.
