Guadeloupe: UDE-MEDEF Denounces Minister's Indifference Toward Looted Businesses

Guadeloupe's employers accuse the overseas minister of ignoring businesses that have been looted or burned, even as she is reportedly preparing to meet members of the Nou Las Palé collective. Les Entrepreneurs de Guadeloupe and UDE-MEDEF Guadeloupe are outraged, according to Karibinfo. Both outlets report 17 days of blockades.
What the union objects to
According to RCI Guadeloupe, the Union des Entreprises de Guadeloupe believes the minister's agenda does too little for the shops and businesses affected. It regrets that no concrete measures have been announced for the damaged businesses or for their employees.
It is reacting to reports that the minister will receive members of the collective behind the protests. If the meeting were confirmed, the union would see it as a "major political mistake." The meeting is not, at this stage, presented as certain.
What the organization is asking for
The union is calling for immediate action to make good the damage rather than a meeting. It also reaffirms its support for the prefect, who is responsible for restoring order and defending the freedom to work.
