Keyliane Abdallah, a 20-year-old winger, has been sent back to Marseille's reserve side, in Pro2, after Bruno Genesio criticised his performance as a substitute in the win over Le Havre (4-3). Foot Mercato and But! Football Club both report it. L'Équipe, for its part, describes the player's appearance in that match as "inconsistent."
A promising start to the season
According to Foot Mercato, this is the first setback in the player's young career. He had made a name for himself in the opening games of the season, with 11 appearances in all competitions and 2 goals.
What the reserve team coach says
In comments gathered by La Provence and relayed by But! Football Club, Romain Ferrier, coach of the Marseille reserve side, insists the player has taken Genesio's message on board. He says the forward is not disputing it: "Il est vraiment dans cet état d’esprit, il ne conteste rien du tout."
Romain Ferrier also relays the player's reaction: "Au contraire, il se dit : « OK, je vais me remettre en question et repartir de l’avant pour de nouveau prouver les choses. »" He adds that the young forward knows he still has to improve, describing him as a player who is still learning.
A difficult return to the reserves
According to L'Équipe, Keyliane Abdallah played the whole of the reserve side's National 2 match away at Riviera FC on a Saturday, a week after Genesio's rebuke. The paper writes that the game was not an easy one for him.
The sources consulted do not report any direct explanation from Bruno Genesio for his decision beyond his criticism after the match against Le Havre. Nor do they say when the winger might return to the first-team squad.
