Important crop losses in southern Haiti

Agriculture Minister Marcelin Aubourg acknowledges the seriousness of the situation and announces assistance measures. His department plans to deploy irrigation systems to optimize harvests in areas affected by drought.

In several departments, including the West and Artibonite, farmers report significant losses of crops. The prices of essential food products are at risk of rising due to a lack of supply in certain regions.

The National Food Security Coordination recommends increased vigilance to anticipate potential impacts on agricultural production and the food security of rural households. The government is also working to support fishing associations by distributing equipment to strengthen their capacity.
