Haitian international defender Hannes Delcroix is injured and will be out for several weeks, FC Lugano coach Mattia Croci-Torti announced at a press conference on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, according to Swiss Italian-language public broadcaster RSI and the site blue News. The player has a lesion in the flexor muscle of his right thigh.
Delcroix will "certainly" miss the Ticino club's next four European matches, RSI wrote. According to RSI's information, his recovery time is about ten weeks. The club has not given an official timeline: according to blue News, which carries the SwissTXT agency report, the exact recovery time has yet to be determined.
Joel Bichsel added to the UEFA list
To replace him in the Conference League, Lugano added Joel Bichsel to its UEFA A list. Bichsel was not on the list at the start of the competition and so could not play in it until now. UEFA rules allow one such change before January when a player is unavailable for more than 60 days, RSI explained.
The Grenadiers against the United States
The injury comes at a bad time for Haiti. The Grenadiers face the United States in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals on Saturday, November 14, at Nu Stadium in Miami, then on Tuesday, November 17, at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, according to Le National. If the estimate of about ten weeks holds, Delcroix will not be able to play in either match.
The Lugano defender was on David Badía's first squad, in September, for the Nations League group stage. He played in the 2-0 loss to Costa Rica in San José on October 4.
