Haiti has been designated to hold a vice-presidency of the Standing Committee of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for the 2026-2028 term. This appointment will allow it to serve as a representative alongside Jamaica for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
This decision was made during the proceedings held from November 2 to 5 in New Delhi, India. Haiti intends to promote sustainable access to solar energy for the region's populations, as well as strengthen climate resilience and financing for the energy transition.
Minister of the Environment Valéry Fils-Aimé stated: "We accept this mandate with a deep sense of responsibility. Our commitment is to make international cooperation a lever for concrete results for the Haitian population."
The government also plans to work in collaboration with other ISA members to promote initiatives adapted to local realities, particularly for small island developing states.
