Haiti banned from playing in Dominican stadium after 4-1 victory

Minister Cruz justified this ban by pointing to incidents that occurred before and during the match at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium. Haitian supporters, who the Dominican authorities say made up the majority, forced their way through certain stadium entrances, damaged barriers, and caused scuffles that resulted in several minor injuries. Some spectators holding tickets were unable to enter the venue.

Furthermore, the Haitian victory was accompanied by controversy surrounding allegedly insulting remarks made by Wilson Isidor during the match. In a viral video, the player is heard uttering phrases interpreted as "Hispaniola is Haiti" and "Haiti is here." The president of the Dominican Football Federation, José Deschamps, condemned these remarks and indicated that steps will be taken with FIFA and Concacaf to denounce the lack of respect shown toward Dominican sovereignty.

This decision comes at a time when relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic remain tense, particularly regarding issues related to immigration and security. The new ban could have a significant impact on international football competitions organized by Concacaf.
