Fanmi Lavalas demands security before elections
Fanmi Lavalas issued a statement on Tuesday, signed by Dr. Maryse Narcisse and Joël Édouard Vorbe, declaring that there can be "no elections without security." The party emphasizes the importance of guaranteeing security for credible elections in the current context, which is marked by kidnappings, massacres, and blocked roads. Fanmi Lavalas has participated in the transition with Lesly Voltaire on the Transitional Presidential Council and Raphaël Hosty, followed by Joseph Almathe Pierre-Louis, at the MTPTC.

Party conditions
Fanmi Lavalas accuses the government of organizing a "selection" rather than a free vote. The party recalls its refusal, in February 2026, to sign the national pact and participate in the government. Using the Creole phrase "zòrèy pa dwe pi long pase tèt," Lavalas is inviting the executive branch not to overstep its bounds.
Member issue
The party has still not submitted its list of 30,000 members to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), despite the extensions granted. This requirement is being contested by several parties, notably during a meeting with the CEP in August.
Security context
The security situation makes census-taking difficult in historical strongholds like Bel-Air and Cité Soleil. The absence of a list may also serve a political strategy to denounce the process rather than risk participating in an uncertain competition.
