The State bans dry ports and transshipment in the Dominican Republic

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has reminded the General Administration of Customs (AGD) that foreign trade via the Dominican Republic into Haiti is prohibited. According to Serge Gabriel Collin, however, goods produced in the Dominican Republic may legally enter through official land border crossings.

The MEF has ordered officials at Haitian-Dominican border customs offices to seize any goods that cross the border in violation of the regulation. The circular aims to combat customs fraud and money laundering, Alfred Fils Métellus specified.

The AGD is instructed to strengthen border controls with the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FADH). Any violation will result in administrative and criminal penalties according to the Customs Code.
