The National Directorate of Potable Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) launched the rehabilitation work for the potable water supply system (SAEP) in Bainet, in the Southeast department, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Financed by the World Bank and scheduled for a duration of 15 months, this project is set to improve access to drinking water for more than 10,000 residents.
The launch ceremony took place in the presence of DINEPA's Director General, Théophil Ostinvil, and the Director of OREPA-Sud, Philippe Eliscar. Representatives of technical and financial partners as well as local authorities also took part in this ceremony.
According to DINEPA, the project has been entrusted to the business consortium BECAG, BECOCI, and ACoR for the execution of the work. Project supervision will be ensured by UNOPS in accordance with contractual provisions.
The rehabilitation aims to strengthen existing water infrastructure in order to provide a regular supply of drinking water to the beneficiary populations. Local authorities, including Vice-Delegate Pierre Jean Rémy and Victor Dominique Clive Mc Calla, president of the municipal commission of Bainet, expressed their satisfaction with this project, which promises a significant improvement in the drinking water service.
Furthermore, in a separate statement, DINEPA invites interested entities to submit electronic applications in non-modifiable PDF format before November 30, 2026, to participate in calls for expressions of interest relating to the management of drinking water supply systems in various localities across the country.
