Haiti's General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) says it collected 9.2425 billion gourdes in October 2026, the first month of the 2026-2027 fiscal year, Juno7 reports. In its economic note, the tax office calls the amount a record in its history. The monthly target was 8.7 billion gourdes, exceeded by 542.5 million, or about 6.2%.

Compared with October 2025, when revenue stood at 7.6538 billion gourdes, collection rose 20.8%, or about 1.59 billion gourdes more. DGI figures show October revenue rising steadily: 3.9343 billion in 2022, 6.2138 billion in 2023 and 6.3474 billion in 2024.

The reasons given

The DGI credits its reforms and the modernization of its services, including the rollout of the RMS system, the reopening of offices that had closed and new centres in areas with strong economic potential. It also cites stronger collection points, systematic follow-up of taxpayers and cross-checking of information, meant to identify new taxpayers and gradually bring informal activity into the tax system.

For the rest of the fiscal year, the DGI says it will keep mobilizing public resources to fund national priorities, especially security, elections and economic recovery.
