Two diplomatic employees in the Bahamas denounce hierarchical pressure
Two female employees at the Haitian embassy in Nassau have contacted Le Quotidien 509 to denounce pressure they attribute to their management, within a mission currently headed by Ambassador Dern Jovens Bonhomme. Accusations relating to alleged acts of sexual harassment and pressure also affect Haitian representations in the Dominican Republic.

Background at the Nassau representation
According to Le Quotidien 509, the Haitian mission in the Bahamas has already been the subject of administrative measures in the past. In August 2019, an investigative commission looking into suspicions of corruption led to the recall of at least three diplomats. Later, in September 2020, first secretary and consul Karl-Henry Chatelier was dismissed with immediate effect following the release of a sexually explicit video.
Accusations in the Dominican Republic
According to the newspaper, steps have likewise been taken in Dominican territory, where Ms. Myrlande Mathieu filed a formal complaint against Karly Jean Jeune, presented as the ambassador's right-hand man. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled this diplomat following the complaint, but Le Quotidien 509 asserts that he continues to carry out professional activities for the ambassador on behalf of Haiti.
Commitments of the chancery
Minister Raina Forbin brought together the heads of 57 diplomatic missions and consular posts in July 2026 in order to enforce the government roadmap. This meeting aimed to impose rigorous and transparent management across the entire Haitian diplomatic network abroad.
