Insured individuals and unions contest the management of Lovely François
Insured individuals, retirees, and labor unions organized a press conference on Thursday, October 1st in Delmas to denounce delays in the payment of benefits by the National Old-Age Insurance Office (ONA), led by Lovely François. According to Me Evel Fanfan, a member of the executive committee of AUMOHD, these protesters accuse Ms. François and Guichard Doré, chief of staff at the ONA, of attempting to modify the 1967 law by decree. These accusations have not been officially substantiated.

Controversies Surrounding Proposed Changes
The protesters also denounce a modification that would increase the minimum age for retirement from 55 to 63 years old, as well as the minimum contribution period from 240 months to 360 months. They also claim that such measures would reduce pensions of workers and retirees by 60% to 30%. For example, an insured person currently receiving 9,000 gourdes could see their pension reduced to 4,500 gourdes.
Questions About Financial Management
AUMOHD raises questions about expenses and compensation within the ONA. Me Evel Fanfan states that Guichard Doré's monthly salary would have increased from 300,000 to 400,000 gourdes, with additional allowances for a card, fuel, and other expenses.
Demand for Respect of Rights
AUMOHD demands respect for the rights stipulated by the 1967 law. The organization opposes any modification that would reduce benefits for workers and retirees, arguing that these individuals should not bear the consequences of ONA's financial difficulties.
