Maternal deaths decrease by 20% during the first 36 epidemiological weeks

Data also shows a reduction of nearly 2% in infant deaths from January to September, with 1349 cases this year compared to 1372 last year. Neonatal deaths have similarly decreased, from 1118 to 1100.

Regarding communicable diseases, the number of confirmed malaria cases has fallen by about 82% since last year. No malaria-related deaths were recorded in the last three weeks in the Dominican Republic.

Leptospirosis also shows a downward trend, with only five confirmed cases over the past four weeks compared to 27 during the same period last year. The province of Puerto Plata has reported the highest number of cases (74), accounting for about one quarter of the national total.

As for dengue, 16 new cases were confirmed in the last three weeks, bringing the total to 338 cases this year and one death. The Ministry continues its efforts to monitor the epidemic and prevent its spread by implementing the "Eliminate, Clean, and Cover" strategy.

Respiratory indicators remain stable with a general downward trend since week 27. Ongoing surveillance of infectious diseases is maintained to ensure effective monitoring.
