Salvadoran operations: DEBLOKE denies Michel Martelly asked the UN to suspend them

The DEBLOKE political alliance has rejected accusations by the Haitian Network of Anti-Corruption Journalists (RHAJAC) that its presidential candidate, former president Michel Joseph Martelly, sought to have the Salvadoran forces' operations against gangs in Haiti suspended. In a statement dated Tuesday, November 3, 2026, DEBLOKE says Michel Martelly neither requested nor authorized any approach to the United Nations to that end, Juno7 and Vant Bèf Info report.
In a note published on November 2, RHAJAC had referred to alleged pressure from the former head of state. According to Vant Bèf Info, DEBLOKE specifically denies any approach made on his behalf through the organization UNA-Haiti. The alliance faults RHAJAC for not making public the correspondence it mentions or presenting evidence of the instructions attributed to Michel Martelly, and calls the accusations defamatory. Juno7 notes that the material presented does not independently establish that the alleged approach took place.
"Support from El Salvador"
On security, DEBLOKE says it supports efforts to restore state control over the territory, including support from El Salvador, while arguing that interventions must respect national sovereignty, the legal framework and the rights of civilians. The alliance also condemns all forms of intimidation and political violence.
In late October, Harvey Dupiton, founder of the NGO UNA-Haiti, accused Salvadoran forces in an open letter of carrying out air strikes near the capital and called for an investigation. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele rejected the accusations, noting that his helicopters only arrived in Haiti on October 29 and that his mission had no bombs, according to HaitiLibre.
Michel Martelly filed his presidential candidacy under the DEBLOKE banner on October 23.
