The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) issued a statement on November 3, 2026, to denounce the presence of a fake Facebook account using its institutional identity. According to the institution, this account uses its official name and fraudulently links its posts to the CEP website, www.cephaiti.ht.
The CEP is calling on citizens to be vigilant regarding this identity theft, which could mislead internet users and damage its credibility. The institution has taken steps with Meta to have the account suspended, but disclaims any responsibility for the content published on it while awaiting a decision.
The CEP emphasizes that this practice violates Meta's rules on digital identity and account integrity. The institution reaffirms its commitment to inclusive, credible, and transparent elections and invites the public to verify their sources through its official channels.
