Celebration of World Mental Health Day in Haiti

On October 9, 2026, the Mental Health Unit of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) celebrated World Mental Health Day around the theme "Lived and heard experiences: real voices, real changes" and the sub-theme "Support deinstitutionalization." This initiative aimed to highlight the challenges related to mental health disorders and the importance of improving psychological support in the country.

In his speech, Thimothé Gabriel, director general of the MSPP, emphasized that mental health is closely linked to Haiti's social reality. According to him, responses to mental health issues must take into account the difficulties faced by society.

The ministry organized these activities to raise public awareness and promote concrete changes in the approach to mental health in Haiti.
