According to AYITI TRANSFÒME, the first round of elections was initially scheduled for December 13, 2026. The coalition fears another extension of the transition period and urges authorities to make public a verifiable electoral calendar, accompanied by steps to monitor its implementation.

AYITI TRANSFÒME asserts that successive postponements risk turning a temporary transition into a permanent mode of governance. The group denounces the erosion of institutions and the growing presence of gangs, arguing that extending the transition exposes Haiti to the risk of becoming a failed state.

The coalition calls on the Electoral Council to demonstrate independence, transparency, and responsibility. It also asks the Executive Branch to create the necessary conditions for credible and inclusive elections.

AYITI TRANSFÒME further urges political and social actors to remain mobilized, asserting that Haiti needs elections to strengthen the legitimacy and authority of its institutions. The coalition emphasizes that any potential postponement should not be used as a tool to preserve power.

Consequences of Postponements

AYITI TRANSFÒME believes that repeated postponements exacerbate the fragility of Haitian institutions and favor the expansion of armed groups. Territorial control by these gangs, population displacement, and paralysis of public administrations are cited as direct consequences.

The political coalition also fears the economic and social difficulties arising from a prolonged transition, noting particularly the mass exodus of young Haitians to foreign countries. AYITI TRANSFÒME asserts that the situation exposes the country to becoming a failed state.

Appeal to Authorities

AYITI TRANSFÒME calls on concerned institutions, notably the Electoral Council and the Executive Branch, to demonstrate independence, transparency, and responsibility. The coalition demands the rapid publication of a firm electoral calendar with verifiable steps.

The political coalition believes that current leaders will have to assume their historical responsibility: organizing elections or answering before the Nation and History for the consequences of a possible failure to meet their commitments.
