MP Anchya Bamana sent a letter to the Minister for Overseas Territories on October 19 to request the activation of the ORSEC drinking water plan and temporary coverage of water bills during outages. She pointed out that these measures were implemented during the 2023 water crisis.
Anchya Bamana is also concerned about the financial state of the Les Eaux de Mayotte utility and is requesting financial support to ensure the renewal of the public service delegation starting January 1, 2027. She warned of delays in setting up the Ironi Bé desalination plant, whose environmental permit was suspended by the administrative court on July 31.
The MP compared this situation to that of French Guiana, where measures have been taken to address the drought. "The people of Mayotte will not get used to misery," she stated, highlighting a difference in treatment between the territories.
