A day full of discoveries in Taipei
Dr Joël Lorquet, PhD, had a particularly busy day during his stay in Taipei. On October 7, 2026, he got up early to go for an early morning jog through the city streets, discovering innovative infrastructure and remarkable cleanliness. He then visited the Straits Exchange Foundation where Wen Jia-Luo indicated that Taiwan wishes to maintain friendly relations with more countries.

Dr Lorquet also went to the Institute for National Defense and Security Research to discuss security and cooperation with Haiti. According to Ms. Lin, both countries face similar challenges in terms of natural risks like earthquakes.
The day was also marked by a visit to the Institute for Security Research to discuss experiences and solutions that Taiwan could share with Haiti. Dr Lorquet was also interested in innovative technologies, particularly in the field of drones.
