REKONSILYE demands a definitive electoral calendar and elected officials installed in 2027

The REKONSILYE platform is urging the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to release a definitive calendar in October that it wants to be credible and acceptable. It acknowledges the new electoral decree but judges that its publication deadlines have created new delays. These delays affect an election originally scheduled for December 13.

Juno7 notes that the statement, dated October 15 in Port-au-Prince, demands a calendar that would provide for the installation of executive and legislative powers, as well as local authorities, during the year 2027.

The platform also asks the CEP to abandon its current voter registration system, which it finds ineffective. It wants a functional and accessible system so that every citizen meeting legal requirements can exercise their political rights.

What the CEP had Already Decided

Juno7 recalls that on October 5, the CEP announced an extension of online candidate registration and document submission deadlines until October 31. The institution also postponed the election campaign. The new dates must be included in an updated calendar.

Accusations Targeting the Ruling Power

REKONSILYE accuses the current ruling power of diverting state apparatus for electoral purposes in departments across the country. According to Haiti24, the platform believes these practices undermine fairness and credibility of the election. It demands that political structures close to the power stop using public resources. Juno7 observes that the statement does not cite any specific cases to support this accusation.

It also calls for everyone to be able to exercise their political rights without hindrance or pressure in a secure environment.

An Appeal to the Government and Political Actors

In light of persistent economic difficulties and insecurity, REKONSILYE is asking the government to mobilize public authorities to help the population, especially in vulnerable neighborhoods. According to Juno7, it criticizes the highest authorities for a "complicit silence."

Finally, the platform invites competent authorities, political actors, civil society, and the international community to work together for free, inclusive, transparent, and credible elections. According to Juno7, the statement bears the names of Arios Jn Charles and Moseline Pierrre-Louis.
