20% reduction in the number of high-ranking officers in the US Army
The US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, announced on Wednesday an additional reduction of 20% in the number of generals and admirals within the armed forces. This measure adds to an initial reduction of 10% that was implemented in May 2025.

Hegseth also indicated that he is continuing the reconfiguration of the US military to better prepare the country for future wars. According to France 24 – Americas, this announcement is part of a series of measures aimed at revolutionizing the military ranks.
