UN has no idea how Dominican ammunition arrived in Haiti
Minister Ito Bisonó stated on Friday that the UN has not precisely identified when and how the ammunition over 50 years old from the Dominican Republic was transported to Haiti. According to El Día, the report also does not specify how these weapons ended up in the hands of armed gangs in Haiti.
The minister added that some of the ammunition dates back to the time of dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. He highlighted his country's collaboration in tracking and investigating these disappearances, noting that a Dominican military officer was arrested for a similar case about two years ago.
The report does not provide specific information on the exact circumstances of the presence of ammunition in the neighboring country. Bisonó recommends that journalists read the entire document to get more details and fully understand the implications of the findings.
