According to OCNH, 88 Haitians were deported on October 1 last year, including 75 men and 13 women. These figures come from data collected at Cap-Haïtien International Airport by the organization.

OCNH reports cases of expulsions involving individuals whose asylum procedures were still ongoing, as well as those who had given up their appeals after more than twelve months of administrative detention. The organization also notes that a number of these nationals arrived without identification documents, which had been retained upon their arrest or during their detention.

In light of the difficulties faced by those returned to Haiti, OCNH makes several recommendations. It asks U.S. authorities to suspend the deportation of individuals whose asylum procedures are still ongoing and demands respect for their appeals processes.

Furthermore, the organization calls on Haitian authorities to strengthen the means of the National Migration Office (ONM) to better support these individuals. It also recommends issuing temporary identification documents and adapting transportation assistance according to the destination of deported nationals.

Finally, OCNH seeks the cooperation of international agencies to ensure urgent psychological care as well as the provision of essential goods to those returned. The goal is to ensure respect for fundamental rights and facilitate their reintegration into their home countries.
