Jean-Charles stated: "I have never been involved in this eel business." He also denied any participation in commercial activities related to the illegal export of glass eels, asserting that his hands are clean and that he has never been involved in corruption, either closely or from afar.
During his political speech at Résigné park, Jean-Charles recalled that he served as mayor of Milot three times and as a senator for the North without ever being involved in embezzlement. He claims that the UN report seeks to discredit his reputation because of his opposition to the current government.
According to Jean-Charles, his name was not mentioned in the files related to the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA) and the PetroCaribe program. He also stated: "I am not a businessman. I am a politician who carries out social actions in Haiti."
Regarding the electoral question, Jean-Charles supports the organization of elections but rejects the current conditions, believing that the restoration of security must come first. Instead, he proposes the establishment of a two-headed executive branch responsible for organizing elections within a year.
The Moise Jean-Charles Cup drew a large crowd and ended with a victory for Jeunesse Sportive Dondonaise against SC Volontaire de Barrière-Battant. The day was marked by musical entertainment, brass bands, and processions.
