Two Goals Before Half-Time

Stavanger opened the scoring in the second minute, from a corner that Gianni Stensness headed past a passive Munich defense. Bayern had also conceded early at Augsburg in the league on Saturday. The players of Joshua Kimmich then dominated without really troubling Arlid Oestboe's goal. At the 38th minute, a three-pass counterattack gave Peter Christiansen his second goal twelve seconds after regaining possession.

Kane Scores Penalty, Olise Sent Off

After halftime, Harry Kane converted a penalty in the 54th minute, won from a foul on Konrad Laimer. He equalized with a header off Kimmich's cross in the 60th minute. This marks his ninth consecutive Champions League goal. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has done better, with eleven.

In the 71st minute, Kane set up Laimer, who played Luis Diaz for the third Munich goal at the far post. Michael Olise was then sent off, a second yellow card earning him his first red card of his career. He had initially held Zlatko Tripic by the shirt and then kicked the ball at Stavanger's captain. For over twenty minutes, including stoppage time, Bayern played with ten men. Herman Haugen equalized with a header in the 90th minute while Alphonso Davies remained passive.

A Busy Schedule, Arsenal in Focus

Bayern had already been held to draws in the league against Schalke 04 (0-0) and Augsburg (2-2). They must play six matches in two and a half weeks: Arsenal, without Olise, Leipzig, and Dortmund at home, then Fribourg and Atlético Madrid away. Five weeks earlier, they had beaten Bodoe/Glimt 5-0.

Foot Mercato and L'Équipe place the match against Arsenal on a Wednesday. Foot Mercato presents it as the third round, played in Munich where Bayern wanted to bounce back from their 3-3 draw against Viking. L'Équipe notes that the game ended 2-2 and that Kane struck a six-yard shot that almost made the difference.
