The collective "Nou Las Palé" had set up several roadblocks on access points to Jarry, including rubble and debris that made traffic difficult. Devimeux refused to meet with the group, stating that he has already been working with other representative organizations for several weeks.
"We cannot accept that a minority of people block the economy of Guadeloupe," said Thierry Devimeux. Equipment was requisitioned to clear the roads and allow the Guadeloupean economy to function.
After a calm pause in the late afternoon, tensions returned early in the evening when some members of the collective tried to prevent the cleanup. A new blockade was established and burning debris on the roads was reported.
