Tense scene with the manager
The young FC Barcelona forward, Hamza Abdelkarim, is at the center of a controversy following a tense scene during a friendly match between the Egypt national team and South Africa. On October 1st, manager Hossam Hassan had a heated exchange with Abdelkarim on the pitch at the end of the Pharaohs' 1-0 defeat.
Critics slam his management
Local media harshly criticized the manager's decision to field Muhannad Lashin rather than Abdelkarim, despite the former scoring recently against South Sudan. Bashir El Tabei, former Egypt international and Zamalek player, stated: "The team has neither personality nor charisma, apart from Muhannad Lashin, and it would have been better to include Hamza Abdulkarim in the starting lineup."
Growing career
Since his arrival at Barça, Abdelkarim has scored four goals in summer pre-season matches. Last September, the Catalan club extended his contract until 2030, recognizing his potential value for the coming years.
