Diesel Price Drop

Furthermore, a reduction in fuel prices is expected for November. According to L'Info Kwézi, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced the release of 10 million barrels of diesel from state strategic reserves.

This three-month measure aims to lower prices by 12 to 18 pence per litre. For a 55-litre tank, the savings are estimated at around 10 euros. Distribution companies have promised to pass on the full discount at the pumps under government oversight. This measure does not stem from a reduction in taxes but from the injection of these oil stocks.

Uncertainty in Mayotte

The implementation of this price cut remains uncertain in Mayotte. In this territory, diesel prices increased on October 1st to reach 2.04 euros per litre, up from 2 euros previously, while unleaded petrol rose to 2.21 euros from 2.05 euros.

Unlike the mainland, local administration sets monthly prices by prefectural decree. These rates include import costs, transportation fees, seller margins, and local taxes voted on by the Departmental Council.
