Mr. Serville's passing has caused deep emotion within the local and national political spheres. Many officials have expressed their condolences, including Sébastien Lecornu, Moetai Brotherson, Naïma Moutchou, Manuel Valls, Huguette Bello, and Yaël Braun-Pivet.

During this one-month period, the interim role will be filled by the first vice-president, Jean-Paul Fereira. He has previously taken on this responsibility during the temporary absences of the sitting president.
