Dr. Jory Désir takes charge of health in the North

The installation ceremony took place under the authority of Dr. Gabriel Timothé, general director of the Departmental Health Direction (DDS). He encouraged the new leader to work closely with staff to ensure good management of health services.

Dr. Désir brings considerable experience in hospital administration, having previously served as medical director of Hôpital Universitaire Justinien. He also served as deputy chief of service for twelve years and trained residents in medicine.

Dr. Charles praised his record upon stepping down, highlighting a significant improvement in the number of contracts within the departmental health system which increased from 250 to 751. He also noted an increase in nurse appointments.

Dr. Désir stated that he is committed with seriousness and knowledge to take on the challenges of the North, a historically and demographically complex department. Among his priorities are coordinating emergencies, improving the quality of care, and strengthening hospital logistics.
