Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino described this event as a "major disaster," although no human casualties have been reported so far. The current toll shows at least 27 injured, according to the latest report from the authorities.
Images of the damage show notably damaged buildings and collapsed roads primarily in the central part of the country, leading to the evacuation of certain sites and the preventive suspension of services.
