Transfer Details on Hold

The transfer of Dani Carvajal, former defender and captain of Real Madrid, to Getafe is currently on hold. Local media reports that the former player has accepted a significant pay cut to join the Spanish club, but financial authorities of La Liga refuse to approve his salary conditions.

Obstacles and Statements

Getafe's president, Ángel Torres, states that nothing is definitive: "Nothing is set in stone. This has nothing to do with La Liga. In principle, it fell through. In football, what is white today can be black tomorrow." According to Roberto Gómez of Radio Marca, Carvajal also demanded a clause allowing him to leave the club if another offer comes during the winter transfer window. The journalist adds: "As you can understand, offering a two-month contract to anyone with even a minimum amount of common sense… Not to mention that logically, one must also take into account the situation in La Liga."

Next Steps

The file should see a new development next Monday with the return of Carvajal's representative to Spain. The transfer could then be finalized or definitively abandoned depending on the decisions made by La Liga and Getafe.
