Cap-Haitien and Ouidah sign a twin-city agreement
Michel St-Croix, president of the Municipal Commission of Cap-Haïtien, officially sealed an agreement on Tuesday, September 22, with Christian Houétchénou, mayor of Ouidah in Benin. The agreement aims to strengthen cultural relations and local development between the two historic cities.

"The signing of this protocol should not remain a mere symbolic act," emphasized Michel St-Croix, president of the Municipal Commission of Cap-Haïtien. "We must develop concrete projects to address the needs of our populations."
The ceremony took place in Ouidah in the presence of local authorities and diplomats as well as representatives from both countries. The delegation from Cap-Haïtien consisted of six members, including Edeline Jean, a member of the Municipal Commission.
The two cities are linked by a history marked by slavery and the struggle for freedom. This protocol foresees joint initiatives in cultural, educational, and tourist domains. The authorities of Cap-Haïtien thanked Dominique Brutus, chargé d'affaires of Haiti in Benin, for her support.
Future Development
After signing the agreement, the two municipalities will focus on concrete initiatives aimed at strengthening their cooperation. These projects should include exchanges between populations and the implementation of joint initiatives for local development.
