The report accuses Alfredo Junior Antoine of arming and supporting groups of young people to promote his political program. These groups would then have become gangsters or joined existing criminal organizations. He is also accused of playing a major role in the January 27, 2025 attack that cost over a hundred lives and involved rapes, some of which were against minors.
Alfredo Junior Antoine vigorously contests these accusations. The Group of Experts claims that Mr. Antoine would have frequently communicated with members of Viv Ansanm, including its leader Dady Paul alias "Didy". He is also accused of providing weapons and financial resources to the criminal coalition through a third party. Illegal weapons were found at his home during his arrest in Morne Calvaire on April 4, 2025.
Mr. Antoine was released after being heard in court in Port-au-Prince on May 9, 2025, but according to the experts, he was being prosecuted for conspiracy against state security, financing criminal organizations, complicity in murder, and association of criminals.
Details of the Accusations
The report indicates that Mr. Antoine would have collaborated with Magalie Habitant, an intermediary between political officials and gangs. He is also accused of illegal kidnappings and arbitrary detentions as well as using violence to intimidate opponents.
Reactions
Alfredo Junior Antoine categorically refutes these allegations, stating that he has never been involved in any criminal activity. He demands an immediate correction of this report which unjustly accuses him of being a sponsor of gangs and a supporter of criminal organizations.
