The day before this incident, David Babilonia Miranda, husband of Morales Ortiz and 30 years old, was arrested in Aguadilla for negligent driving and driving without a licence. He threatened a sergeant during his arrest and disrupted police functions.

Following Babilonia Miranda's initial arrest, the case was reviewed by prosecutor Rufino Jiménez and judged by Judge Yailin González Echevarría. She found him guilty and set bail at $4,500.

Morales Ortiz then intervened with Babilonia Miranda to try to run over Sergeant Rivera Ramírez, who had issued legal warnings before their arrest. Prosecutor Víctor Román Pérez presented Morales Ortiz to Judge Rolando Matos Acevedo, who found her guilty of attempted murder and set bail at $10,000.

Morales Ortiz has paid the bail and is under electronic monitoring. Authorities are requesting anyone with useful information to solve this case to contact 787-343-2020 or via X at @PRPDNoticias.
